Lemons

Lemons are oval-shaped citrus fruits that are bright yellow in color and have smooth, porous skin. They are a hybrid of the lime and citron, and are native to Asia, particularly Assam, Northern Myanmar, and China.

Lemons have a sour taste and are usually not eaten as a whole fruit or alone. They contain a lot of citric acid, which gives them their low pH and sour taste. Lemons also contain vitamin C, flavonoids, potassium, magnesium, and calcium.

Here are some other facts about lemons:

  • Lemons are antibacterial, can deodorize, and can cut through grease.
  • One lemon contains about 31 milligrams of vitamin C, which is 51% of the recommended daily intake (RDI).
  • Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage, helps your body make collagen, and supports your immune system.
  • Lemons are an excellent source of flavonoids, which are antioxidants that help remove free radicals that can damage cells from the body.
